"Run, Jump, Shout but do not sin"

The Marathon was organized by the Don Bosco Salesian Community on the Uhuru day 9th October 2024 in Palabek refugee settlement. It was started from Reception to Holy Cross a distance of around 5Km and the partcipants in the Marathan were awarded prizes basing on the number. This initiatives came to show care and love for the host and the Refugee Community. 

It was done to show to ensure that people especially the working staff who rarely get time to do physical exercise to be directly involves. Among the Prizes was shoaps, T-shirts and others. The Registration for the Marathon was free of charge whereby and all the people who registered were participated.

PARTICIPATING GROUPS

The Marathan had several categories of participants from the settlement including the youths, Elderly and the childrens

Youth

This group comprises of the students from Don Bosco Vocational Training Center Palabek, the youth from the settlement. Many youth were present in the Marathon and this made the Marathon Lively.

The Elders

Statistics shows that Elders rarely get time to get involve in active physical exercise and through the marathon many Elders atleast got a chance to poarticipate and also improve on the health which is of great important.

Childrens

The childrens who participated in the Mrathon was a representation of the Childrens in the Nursery school, Childrens from within the settlement and others. These childrens participated actively though at some point they were force to stop and walk a little bit becvause of the distance from Reception to Holy Cross where the final destination is.
