Don Bosco VTC Successfully Conducts UVTAB Examinations
Don Bosco Vocational Training Center Palabek successfully conducted the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) examinations in November 2025. The assessments were carried out for both Modular and Level One trainees across all departments, reflecting the center’s commitment to high-quality skills training for youth from refugee and host communities.
The Modular examinations, which focused solely on practical skills, were conducted across all departments except Solar, Electrical, and Agriculture, which do not offer Modular courses. During these practical assessments, trainees showcased their hands-on abilities, technical competence, and application of skills learned throughout their training. In the Tailoring department, candidates demonstrated garment construction, pattern drafting, and finishing skills on 26th November. Welding trainees applied their knowledge in metalwork fabrication and joining techniques, while Carpentry trainees were assessed on measuring, cutting, and assembling quality wooden projects. BCP (Bricklaying, Construction, and Plumbing) trainees exhibited their proficiency in construction and plumbing techniques, Mechanics trainees displayed competence in vehicle servicing and repair, and Hairdressing (Pencil Hair) trainees showcased creativity and hairstyling skills. These practical examinations emphasized skill proficiency and preparedness for the workplace.
The Level One examinations were conducted across all departments, including Solar, Electrical, and Agriculture, and comprised both theory and practical components. This ensured that trainees demonstrated a strong understanding of technical concepts as well as practical application. Tailoring Level One candidates completed both theory and practical tasks on 27th November, while Welding trainees were assessed in theory and practical skills on the same day. Solar and Electrical Level One trainees undertook theory on 26th November and practical on 27th November. Agriculture Level One trainees were evaluated on modern farming practices, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on demonstrations. Carpentry, BCP, Mechanics, and Hairdressing Level One trainees also completed both theory and practical assessments, showcasing advanced skills relevant to their trades.
Level Two trainees will undertake their UVTAB examinations separately from 5th to 12th December 2025, ensuring focused assessment and adherence to UVTAB standards.
The successful completion of the Modular and Level One examinations reflects the dedication of our trainees, the guidance of instructors, and the continued support of parents, guardians, donors, and the wider community.
