Salesians of Don Bosco is a Religious Missionary Society within the Catholic Church offering educational and social services in at least 134 countries of the world. In Africa it is present in 44 countries serving youth through 101 Vocational Training Centers/Institutes and an equal number of academic institutions. We are also involved in various youth services for youth through youth centers, rehabilitation centers and other specialized ministries. 

In the past few decades Salesians have ventured into the world of refugees offering much needed psychosocial support through skill training, livelihood support and other educational assistance. Our presences among refugees in Gumbo-South Sudan, Kakuma-Kenya and PalabekUganda are success stories.

In the Great Lake Region we are serving for over 50 years, in Rwanda since 1954, in Burundi since 1962 and in Uganda since 1989. In Uganda, we work in Bombo (VTC, Secondary School, Primary School, Youth Centre and Parish), in Kamuli (VTC, Youth Center and pastoral Salesian of Don Bosco ), in Namugongo (Center for Children with difficulties, Primary School and Nursery School), and in Gulu (a parish, primary and secondary schools), and since 2017 in Palabek for the service to the refugees. 

As educations, pastoral workers and social service partners, the Salesians of Don Bosco in Palabek Refugee Settlement, walk with leaders, other service-partners, families, youth and churches in emergency services and poverty alleviation programmes, responding to various human needs, mostly in education and psychosocial care which also includes spiritual assistance to the Catholic population.
