Don Bosco VTC Junior Achievement Exhibition Day

Don Bosco VTC Palabek recently hosted its highly anticipated Junior Achievement Exhibition Day, a vibrant showcase of talent, creativity, and entrepreneurship where eight departments competed to present innovative business ideas and practical products aligned with their respective fields. The event brought together students, staff, and guests to celebrate skills, ingenuity, and the spirit of healthy competition. The participating departments included Building and Construction, Hairdressing, Agriculture, Motorcycle Mechanics, Carpentry and Joinery, Solar and Electrical Installation, Welding and Metal Fabrication, and Tailoring.

Product from each each department

  1. Agriculture impressed with pineapple wine and preserved food made using solar driers.

  2. Carpentry and Joinery showcased beautifully crafted tables and other furniture items.

  3. Hairdressing contributed by producing charcoal briquettes and liquid soap.

  4. Building and Construction (BCP) presented high-quality compound pavers.

  5. Solar and Electrical Installation demonstrated products in light business and also engaged in producing charcoal briquettes.

  6. Tailoring exhibited handmade bags, bangles, and hair accessories.

  7. Motorcycle Mechanics highlighted their skills in motorcycle repairs and maintenance.

  8. Welding and Metal Fabrication displayed metallic stands, windows, chairs, and other custom metalwork.

Adding more excitement to the exhibition, the Agriculture and Livelihood Project (PDO) team also brought a variety of products for sale, including piglets, chickens, and field crops such as groundnuts, oyster nuts, and sunflower, giving attendees a real taste of practical business operations and local enterprise.

Recognizing Talent and Innovation

The competition was highly competitive, with each department demonstrating not only technical skill but also teamwork, problem-solving, and innovative thinking. After careful evaluation, Agriculture emerged as the overall winner, earning 250,000 UGX for their impressive display and products. Carpentry secured second place with 150,000 UGX, while Welding and Metal Fabrication took third place, receiving 100,000 UGX.

The Junior Achievement Exhibition Day was more than a competition it was a learning experience that allowed students to apply their skills in real-world scenarios, develop entrepreneurial thinking, and gain confidence in presenting their products to a wider audience.
